The past several days...

A lot has happened in the past week. I don't even know where to start, so I doubt I say a lot about it all. The snow, the passing of my g'pa, and Josh returning home. Bittersweet past several days. I have tons of pictures to upload though... so here they are... my blog in pictures.

I can not believe how much snow we got in such a short amount of time!

He has that tongue sticking out ;)

Hello brightness... squinty eyes!

haha - bless his heart, we need to get that boy some better snow gear!

just working in the snow...

Playing with Bo

I don't know what he is doing but this picture makes me laugh real hard!

Licking the snow..

It's a mustache party!

So handsome

On Wednesday February 20th, my Nanny sent me a text that she would be quitting work and staying home with my g'pa Jim. His chemo treatment was over and there was still cancer left in his one lung. He has been feeling bad for a while. Him and Nanny did get to come up and eat Catfish Hole a few weekends ago, so that was nice. On Thursday Feb 21, 2013 at 2:45 am my phone rang - I missed the call but woke up to see it was a missed call from Nanny. My heart sank and I already knew what had happened. It happened so fast. My heart is so sad and aches for my Nanny. I went down to her house on Thursday evening to see her. My mom drove down as soon as she got the call and didn't leave Nanny's side until yesterday. Over the weekend they prepared for the funeral and Sunday was Jim's "Celebration of Life" party. That's how he wanted it. There was singing, guitars, food, and drinks. Some of Jim's favorite drinks ;)

A bench he made - with all his favorite things on it.

Nanny and Jake. The easel in the background is the one Jim made me.

The music and crew....

Monday was the graveside memorial. It was at the US National Cemetery in FSM. It poured down rain, hail, thunder, and it was FREEZING. All the grand-kids were pallbearers. I'm so so so thankful that Josh came back in town to be here.

I appreciate all the texts, messages, and prayers from friends and family. I love you all.

So many wonderful memories with Jim. I'm going to post some pictures when I have time to go through them all. He's been in my life for a long time and seen me through a lot. He will be greatly missed. :( He left us way too soon.

Yesterday Josh stayed home with me and Jake.... here are a few more pics....

Jake trying out my new slate call ;)

One of Josh's turkeys.... yes there is another one coming haha...

This melts my heart, so glad daddy is home. 6 weeks gone was too long for this momma. Jake is telling him in this picture "daddy, I love you, don't go to work" .. talk about heart wrenching!

Here is all the stuff I won from Tradition Outdoors ... they wanted me to send them a picture... I am SO ready to head to Kansas with Josh to try it all out ;)

It's Wednesday aka hump day! Down hill from here folks!

I love you more ❤

Somewhat off a different Valentines this year .... Josh is still out of town, Kikki was out of town, so it was just me and Jake for the most part. We had a horrible night before and Jake was up tossing and turning, had a slight fever...but when we woke up that morning he was fine. I decided to go ahead and take him to his school party, which was lotsa fun! Then we headed to Merle's to have lunch with Nana. By this time Jake was lethargic and I could tell his fever was back. Took him home and sure enough 102.3 :( so off to bed we went ...we both slept most if the day and then when we woke up he was fine! Like nothing was ever wrong. Weird deal. We played and had leftovers haha! Not much of a fancy Valentines but a least I was with my littlest love! I worked the next day and received some very neat and pretty flowers from Josh.

This weekend I had school but got out early! Hooray!!!! Tonight is dinner for my best friend Sarah's 30th birthday!! Can't wait for that! We are meeting a lot of friends and eating at Doe's! Yum!

Have a great rest of the weekend,

Lindsey

Now I get it....

Before I became a mom I never understood why other people who were moms got sooooo excited about their kid going potty on the big potty.... I was like "oh cool"... 😳 and "I really didn't want that picture of what was in the potty but congrats on that"....

Jake could care less about the potty... I've tried stickers, sticker charts, candy, suckers, surprises, sang about it, Elmo books, etc. He just looks at me like "your an idiot"... and he flat out tells me "no I not go on the big potty". Frustrating!!!! So I told myself whatever...we'll try again down the road. I know he understands and is so smart, so basically he is being stubborn about it. He doesn't have "time" to stop and pee. He throws a fit if I even change him because it takes away from his play time!!!! Geez.

Today I decided to put his big boy undies on him and told him he had to go on the potty if he wears these. I sat him on it and he told me no. I said "what if we take your potty in the living room where Mickey Mouse is" he liked that idea. So yes, there is a small potty in my living room, don't judge, I do what I have to do. Sooo I sat him back on it and said just try... Thinking to myself "why am I even trying this today"...and all I heard was pee in the potty!!!!!!!! I looked down and asked him while in shock, "did you just pee pee" he said "yea" like no biggie ..... Ok, you moms know the first time this happens you freak out, or I did and I also wanted Jake to know it was a MAJOR deal. I was dancing and jumping up and down and singing a made up song (bc Jake loves those) about him peeing in the potty. I laughed and cried and felt soooo proud.... Jake's exact words were "now I get a ticker" aka sticker) I texted all my friends and family bc HELLO this is a big freakin deal! (I spared a picture though) .... but I now understand the feeling of excitement, the happiness, being proud that your baby is getting big, and all that other stuff! That saying "you have to be a mom to understand it" really hit home today.

Sooooo yes I just did a whole blog over peeing in the potty. I'm freaking stoked! So proud of my little man (even though he peed in his bedroom floor 10 mins after the potty ordeal)... that's ok, it's what the "potty training" is all about. Whew! Lord give me patience :)

Bubble baths are so FUN

*Sunny Days*

It's that time again, feeling like Spring and my absolute favorite time of year! I might say Fall is my favorite too but Spring more so :) There are just so many fun things ahead... like my bday and turkey hunting!

Gosh I've been down in the dumps lately...one of those things that you can't put your finger on, just alot of little things that add up...but today I'm not thinking about those things and Jake and I went outside to play and it's amazing how much a little vitamin D can make a girl feel good! I worked out a little too and that helped. Last year I was working out so hard and never missed a day, this year I can't find that motivation! :( Maybe I'll blame my homework taking up my running time haha!

We played in the woods today and at the creek, or you might say the "stream"... not much water in it these days :( here are a few pics ...

The boy had to take his gun - duh!

LOL he said he was shooting "quirrels"

Throwing rocks - the best thing ever - (besides his play-doh obsession right now)

I love watching water run over these rocks...

"splash"

Right here he is telling me "Wait. One. Minute. MOM!" b/c I kept saying "let's walk down here" haha!

Neat tree with a hole in, Jake decided it needed some rocks in it too.

My little country boy!

Bo chased every rock Jake threw in, except this was a little deep and he was cold haha

LOVE that face

He almost fell in, I about broke my leg running to him - my heart stopped. I just knew it would be cold if he did lol! (no that's not a snake below his feet lol)

He found some skeet that were missed on new years haha

I love this picture...

annnnd last but not least - this was me today LOL!

Everyone have a super week!
