Kindergarten Registration

Well, this day came faster than I realized. We are registered for Kindergarten. Jake is very excited and momma is very nervous. I am thankful that I at least know so many of the staff at Alma Primary. I can check up on him haha ;)

March-April

I was glad to see March .. ready for spring weather & my birthday. We've had warm and cold days - typical AR weather. My birthday rolled around and guess what?!?! MY KIDS GOT SICK. Every holiday I'm tellin ya. I'm trying to even think of what they had .. they are sick every month so I can't even remember. I thought it was HFM again.. but it ended up being a weird fever virus. Blah. BUT they were well for Easter, thank goodness.

I love the warm spring days we get to spend at the cabin & play in the creek!

So Jake invited a friend to come play ...

Will loves it there too. Eating pizza and playing dozers

Sunday afternoon at the sizzler :)

This is on my birthday, he was running fever but we still went to the cabin. His smile is so contagious!

My love...

A week later, Josh took me out for my birthday to StoneHouse .. delish! #33

Aren't they handsome in their little ballcaps?!

Easter! Hunting eggs in the cold wind...

ON TO APRIL .........

This is the first year for us in sports.. I wasn't really ready for that yet but my mom really wanted to sign Jake up for soccer this year. I agreed. Well - now I LOVE IT. :) It doesn't take up a lot of time though. Jake did rather well for his first game. What I mean by that is, I didn't think he would get out there and play in front of people. He did! And he scored a goal! BUT the other team scored a few and that's when the tears started. He cried and cried because he thought they were losing. :) Another reason we wanted him to play (to learn how to lose). He finally got back out there and played. Every practice he does better and better. Second game rolls around, he won't get out of the car. He was shaking and crying. I asked him if he was nervous and he said yes. I told him it was ok to be nervous and that every one feels that way. He didn't play the first quarter of the game. After the whistle blew for a break... I pushed him out on the field, as he was still crying. Once the whistle blew for the game to restart, that kid was ALL over the ball and running as fast as he could. He score 2 goals, one on the wrong end LOL, and was doing awesome. He didn't want to come back in and let another kid play. NOW we have to work on the "cocky" attitude. :/ We've been pumping his confidence up so much that now we have to tone it down HAHA! No matter what, I am proud of him.

First game :)

Soccer balls all in the house .. gosh I love these boys!

Daddy's birthday :) He had a good one!

Exactly a month later to the date - April 14th - back at the DR. Will has a bad cold virus and Jake's been having headaches. We have to get his eyes checked :(

These toddler years are hard when Will is in daycare, he stays sick. Jake wasn't that bad because he stayed home with me. I hope this is building Will's immunity up A LOT. Whatever Will brings home he gives to Jake. Lord help me! I need a lot of prayers for the remainder of the year. I don't have a lot of vacation days left!

Happy Friday!

Peace out February!

February hasn't been friendly to us. Just like the end of Dec and first of Jan - sickness has plagued our house. Maybe I bleach too much? That has to be the answer.

3 weeks ago, Jake came down with strep throat. He hasn't had that since he was like 2! It hit him hard too. He was out of school for 4 days. The following week, Will catches it. First time for Will, and it hits him even harder. He was out of school for a week. We took him to the dr on a Sunday and they looked everything over like usual, and said he looked fine, probably a little virus causing the high fever. I said nope, test him for strep. So they did, and dr came back in and was shocked and said I was right. He said his throat wasn't red and his lymph nodes weren't swollen, so anytime we have to go to the dr, they will always have to get a strep test done. But you know as moms, you know your own kids. I could tell it is what Will had b/c Jake had it and he was acting the same way. Very lethargic, not eating, high fever. :( We got scared on Thursday ( 5 days into the antibiotics) because Will was not drinking anything. I thought he was dehydrated. He was just laying on me the entire day and his eyes would close and open real slowly. I was about to head to the ER. He stayed home with Josh on Friday and went back to the dr and they said he was ok, to keep trying liquids. By Friday afternoon he was doing MUCH better. I came home from work and the boys were playing outside b/c it was a nice day.

By the evening, Jake was complaining of a headache and his stomach hurting. I thought it was just the pizza he ate. By 8:30 he was almost in tears. I told Josh "get ready, he will be throwing up anytime."  (Sidenote: I was supposed to be leaving for Hot Springs at 7:30 AM with a few girls to have a day/night away from everything. I did not get to go.) 11:00 Friday night Jake starts puking. He threw up exactly every hour into Saturday morning. I couldn't sleep. The first time he threw up it was everywhere. So we had to change blankets, sheets, clothes, etc. You know the routine when a kid pukes in the bed. So every hour that passes, I was usually awake and ready to get him to the bathroom. I was telling my mom the next day about it and she was laughing (at me) and told me to write all this down. I told her, "I am not sure how I picked Jake up, and got him to the toilet as fast as I did, every time" ... like, when I look back on it, how did I do that? LOL .. poor little guy. All he wanted to do was curl up in a ball and throw up in the floor, on the bathroom rug, anywhere besides the toilet. I think at one point I said "dear goodness JAKE can you not throw up in the toilet!" - I know, mean momma. He couldn't help it. I was tired. I was sick of sickness. At one point he was sitting on a stool and I was rubbing his back and he yelled at me to quit touching him! But the next day we all laughed about it, not that Jake was sick, but how the night went. UGH. Glad that's over and hope it stays away for a very long time.

So, by Sunday, the boys were both in much better moods and feeling good. Each day is getting better and I am thankful they are both feeling well at the same time :)

We hate strep throat!!!!!!!

Valentine's Day mail surprises :)

This kid, I've never seen an ear fetish like he has. It's his "lovey".. his security blanket.

Poor little guy, sooooo sick.

Checking out the cows

"Hey mom, I feel much better!"

So did Jake, he was playing in a dirt pile. He was very happy. :)

We are ready to say goodbye to February and helllloooooooo to March!

There's that mom guilt again...

It's a new year. I've lost track of my blog. I've about lost track of life. Let me rewind a few months. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas. Despite the 10 days of HFM virus with both boys this time, I had already taken a week off after Christmas. It was a good thing too because I had to keep them both away from everyone. We made it through though and they are now battling colds. Who isn't at this time of year. Jake and Will are growing so much and they make me laugh on a daily basis. They also drive me crazy, which lead me to this blog post.

I know most of you can relate to the stressful, horrible mornings that leave you feeling like the worst mom in the world. All I can think about is going straight home to hug my boys. Mom guilt. It's always there and I can't seem to get rid of it. Feeling like a failure as a mother, hoping you aren't messing your kids up. I am posting this to look back on and laugh about it sometime...and remind myself I did not completely mess my kids up ;) I have already laughed some of it off today, thankful to my good friend who shares her stories with me as well. We text each other at the same time this morning with that dreaded phrase "crap morning" ... we swapped stories on what happened as I said "pretty sure I left ruts in the yard as I peeled out of my driveway b/c I was so mad" and with hers "yea... and I kicked the cat" (don't worry, no animals or kids were harmed this morning).

So I tell myself, it's not just me who has mornings like this, there are other moms out there feeling the way I do right now. My kids do not hate me. Maybe they will forget this morning ever happened.

And then there's my kids - who probably think I am CrAzY. But I know they love me despite my failures. They are truly the center of my world. They are precious little human beings. They are wonderful, smart, funny, loving, and wild. They are learning so much and yet teaching me so much more.

If you're having one of those mornings, days, or nights, remember I am right there with ya. Say a prayer for me and I will for each of you as we try to be our very best at "mom". After all, it is the hardest job in the world! Yet most rewarding.

To my boys......

who eat in the bed when I really don't want you to ...

who will only eat cottage cheese and nothing else ...

who are wild (and Lola who licks everything) ...

who have the sweetest faces in the whole world...

who loves adventures and being "5" ...

who loves to wake momma up soooo very early...

who thinks they are big and tough.....

who has the most tender heart I've ever known ...

who has the sweetest most contagious smile ...

who thinks Lola needed to be fed, all of the food ....

to those boys who get bragged on day after day from school, teachers, and directors, to those boys, MY boys, I know me and dad are doing something right even though we feel like we fail at times. You boys are the light of our world, you make us happy and proud. Sorry about those rough mornings. We love you more than you will ever know.
